About

JAMES GIPSON ARCHITECT
Firm History

James Gipson Architect was founded in 1973, in Eagle, Idaho. Over the years we have successfully completed hundreds of projects for many clients, in many areas of Western America. Our work includes:

  • 1) Commercial and Professional Buildings
    2) Churches, and Public Buildings
    3) Multi-Family Housing Projects
    4) Residential Projects (single-family homes, and addition-remodel projects).

In the 1980’s we expanded our operations, and for several years maintained a branch office in Walnut Creek, California, to serve our California clients. We also were among the first architectural firms in Idaho to fully utilize computer aided drafting (CADD) methods for producing our work. We have diligently pursued continuing education in many areas, including energy efficiency, environmentally friendly design, trends in residential design, senior housing, and professional practice.

Several of our designs have received awards and recognition for energy efficiency, design excellence, innovative planning, and community beautification. Many of our homes have been featured in various home shows, and have received high recognition for excellence in residential design.

Our firm is purposely small, allowing appropriate personal attention to each project. In addition to James, the owner and principal architect, we have a business manager, two professional architectural designers, and a bookkeeper. Additionally, we maintain continuing relationships with structural, mechanical, electrical consultants, to form a professional team capable of providing excellent service.

James Gipson is a published author, the best known work being an article entitled “Who Needs an Architect ?.” Currently, James is researching and planning publications on the design and construction of early church and residential buildings of Southern Idaho.
